From The Calendar: Make Valentines Day Plans

Making memories, 'cause love is everlasting.
Valentines Day Plans
"I've heard it said that to love someone is not to desire them but to desire their happiness."
From "The Sunflower" by Richard Evans

This day in my Year-Round Holiday Calendar is time make Valentines day plans. Valentines day celebrations vary from large lavish dinners out and expensive gifts to small tokens of affection and a table set for two. Single on Valentines day? There is always some one to give love to! Spend the day with your kids, or parents, or volunteer somewhere. Here are some suggestions and tips on making your Valentines Day plans:

  • If you are making dinner reservations now is the time to do so, restaurants fill up quickly on Valentines.

  • Wearing something nice on this day makes it special. Check your v-day outfit. Go through makeup, update if possible. Think about, try out fun new hairdo's. Perfume, nails, eyebrows, whatever you do to pamper yourself.

  • If you are dining in, set a menu for the night. Remember decorations, candles, and something to light candles with.

  • Buy or make kids valentines cards for school. I will have a post on homemade cards on January 27th.

  • If you are baking check supplies including cookie cutters, sprinkles, etc.

  • Plan a little extra time to clean and decorate your home. This blesses everyone, including you.

Some suggestions on gifts:

At home bed&breakfast - Make a retreat for yourself at home. Add a few drops of essential oil to the pillows on your bed (make sure it is a scent your loved one will like too). Play some light music. Set a basket in the bathroom with candles, body wash, and other nice things. Set a snack or fruit basket out in the kitchen. Add a couple extra pillows or something nice to the couch. Look through each room in your house and ask 'if this were a bed and breakfast, what would I like to see?'

Massage- Between now and Valentines day learn some massage techniques. And have a massage oil on hand.

Need some adventure? Make reservations for sky diving or a hot air balloon ride. Tickets are easy to buy and always a hit! Try a ball game, concert, play or comedian.

Working on Valentines day? Instead of flowers send a pizza. Really! Some places make heart shaped pizzas for delivery on Valentines.

Valentines day breakfast as a family is always a hit in our home. And Breakfast in bead is always a lovely way to spoil someone.

Valentine's Day seems to always be a tough one for me. It always seems to get ruined. I should take your advise and spend it with my daughter. I'm bound to have a fun and loving one if I do!!

Happy 6WS!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one counting down to Valentines Day!!! I looked at the calendar on Thursday and went "One month till V-Day! Woo!" haha but then again this is the first Valentines Day in a long, long time that I'm not only happy, I'm very much in love!! I can't wait (even if we don't give anything to each other, I'm determined to make it fun!)

V-day is my 2nd favorite holiday of the year, next to Christmas. I love what it represents in my life, being happy and in love. We normally don't go out on the 14th but spend it as a family with a special meal. I'm about to start posting on this topic. Stay tuned!

Oh I really liked all of your Valentine Ideas! I really enjoy that day and for some reason it just makes me feel happy! I like hearts and especially when they are pink, and red, and pretty.

I have so many "Loves" in my life to be thankful for:

God
Husband
Daughters
Sons-in-law
Grandsons
Granddaughters
Extended Family
Old Friends
New Friends
Church Friends
Pastors...

The list is long! And I think Valentine's Day is a good day to show love to all of those special people in our lives. Thanks for reminding me.

Those are some great ideas! And I'd much rather receive lunch than flowers. Thanks for playing 6WS!
