Wine Tasting
Many different types of events from free wine tasting, to extravagant outings with limos are offered at some wineries and bistro shops across the country.
Wine tastings are often free or inexpensive. They are geared toward introducing you to, and possibly selling you, a bottle of the best wines. Some wineries offer 'bottle your own wine' events where they take you through the unique process of bottling their wine. Private parties, tours, and gift shops can be found at most of the bigger wineries. With some premier wineries offering full day events where you are taken by limo from one activity to the next.
To find the wineries or wine tastings in your area you can go to maps.google.com type in the 'name of your area' plus 'winery' or 'wine tasting' in the search bar at the top, click search, and then click on the red dots to see the winery near you. Often the winery's description has a link to their website and other contact information where you can find their hours and events offered.
We bought this bottle of wine in 2003 while visiting the Columbia Winery in Washington. At that time we were able to tour the winery and see the floor to ceiling shelving full of oak barrels where the wine was aged. They discussed their wine making process and the differences in making red and white wines. Our tour guide was both elegant and humorous. At the end of the tour we were led to a tasting bar where for $5 each we were able to taste several different types of wines. Judging the cellarmaster's riesling to be the best we bought this bottle which, because it is attached to such a fun memory, we have never had the heart to drink.
