Vacation Idea#14 - Getting to know your Vacation

WISH i  was am on HOLIDAY!

This week our family is going on vacation!
So, starting Wednesday, I will have a feature week on
Holiday-Haven  to showcase some of the amazing
ideas I have seen on other blogs.

- Vacation Idea #14 -
Get to know your Vacation
(personally!)

We take one major vacation each year and then do some smaller holiday weekends throughout the year. For the larger vacation we usually know by Christmas time the sort of vacation we will be taking the next summer. So each year part of my Christmas gift planning is to get a puzzle, movie, book etc. about the place we will be vacationing to. For example, one year we traveled the Oregon trail and the Christmas before I bought an Oregon trail computer game for the children and a book for myself. Another year we traveled to Hannibal Missouri, which was Mark Twain's child hood home, for that trip I bought an audio book, and videos about Mark Twain.

This year we are snowboarding in Whistler!

I used this puzzle of Whistler as a family Christmas gift.
We put it together on New Years Eve as part of our New Years family game tablescape.
I think next I am going to have to frame it as a reminder of our trip!

Snowboarding in Whistler. Wow! Enjoy and be safe. I enlarged the puzzle photo and came to the conclusion that I probably would have given up on a puzzle that difficult. Yes, you should frame it as a memory of your trip there.

Thanks! And yes this puzzle took us forever to put together. I thought it might be easy because of all of the words and runs, but just about every piece seemed to have words or dotted lines on it!

What a fun idea! I love the puzzle of Whistler...

I imagine that at Christmas, your children are just as much excited about their upcoming vacation as they are about their Christmas gifts.
