Lets Go Fishing
Blame it on my Dad who took me fishing every weekend when I was ten. I love fishing! I still can't stand to put a worm on a hook or take the hook out of the fishes mouth, but I do love it once we are out there, all set up, and enjoying the scenery while waiting for a fish to bite. And I love the thrill of catching a fish. The photos are of a family fishing trip we took last summer.
To take with you:
Life jackets-
especially if you have a non-swimmer
Poles-
ones that breakdown if you need to put them the trunk of a car to transport.
Tackle and bait
Maps, cell phones and/or a radio
Sunscreen
Flashlight if out after dark
An ice chest or other way to transport fish home
Water/snacks for everyone
Fishing licence- In most states children under 16 will not need a licence. In my state a fishing licence for a resident costs $24 for fresh water, $22 salt water, $12 shellfish, but every state is different. I found one state where the licence was only about $10 and another where you can buy a lifetime licence. A great site to find the info. in your area is Takemefishing.org under "get a licence" on their menu bar. They also have great info on where to fish in your area. (This is a non-sponsored link).
Some tips:
Get to know your fish. Do a google search before you go to see if you can find out what sort of fish are in the area you will be fishing. And what sort of equipment you will need.
Ask other fishermen when you get there if they have caught any fish. If so find out what they are using and copy it.
Find some good fish recipes. Usually soy sauce and lemon are great accents for fish.
In the menu bar at the top of Fishing.Net you can find links to fishing blogs, information on fishing events in your area, a "fishing photo battle" and lots of other fun stuff.
