First wash your raspberries. I do this by filling a bowl with raspberries, then place the bowl in the sink and overfilling it with water so that the little bits of everything wash out. As I am overfilling with water I gently stir the raspberries 'till I see that they are completely washed.
I add them to a pan with about 1/2 cup sugar for every cup of Raspberries. Next, I toss in a couple packets of pectin or gelatin. But, (for a more reliable method) I suggest you look at the directions on your pectin or gelatin and follow accordingly.
Cook up for about 15 minutes, and carefully pour the boiling hot jam into jars.
And wait to see if they set up. I always worry about raspberry jam setting up. It never looks like it is going to and then, when I have given up hope, it finally does. I have never had a batch fail, but if it were to I guess we would have pancake and icecream topping for months to come!
Here are some of them cooling down.
I quit sealing canning jars long ago, I now just put on the lids and put them in the freezer.
This plus my currant jam now makes 20 jars for the school year!
Next is blackberry jam, just waiting for them to ripen.

Jam making is so wonderful! Messy but mouthwatering. Do you give any away at the Holidays? I think it would make the perfect gift with some shortbread or on its own. There is something very comforting about people still making homemade jam I think. A throw back to when every woman canned from her garden. Great post :-)
I loved this post as well and am slightly jealous! We are actually growing raspberries and this being year 3 we had several "cups" of berries. Well, it's a start! Hopefully next year we will get tons more. My husband and I made nanking cherry jam a few weeks ago. uummmm...

Jessa, I can only imagine all the good stuff I've missed on your blog by being away from blogging for a while.
If you knew how much my husband loves raspberries, you wouldn't tortue him with all this talk of pies and jam. lol
I've never once made jam. You make it sound so easy. I should give it a try.
Thanks for coming by my blog recently. You're a sweet visitor.
