This weekend I like to go with my children and pick a pumpkin.
It is close enough to Halloween that the pumpkin will not mold if left whole and outside in slightly cooler fall weather. And far enough away to have a good selection and to have some time enjoy having them on the porch.
Often we make a day of it traveling to a wonderful pumpkin patch, although some years the convenience of a grocery mart is best. And this year we had a couple of pumpkins grow in our little vegetable garden as well.
We wait to carve the pumpkins until 2 days before halloween.
Do you do anything special with your pumpkins?
I think I am going to try painting some polka dot pumpkins this year!

Your photos look like so much fun at the Pumpkin patch with the kids.
We go to the grocery mart for one or two ever year. My husband loves doing the carving just like a big kid would.

I hope to go to the patch next weekend. I saw a cool idea to do the bat pumpkins. Got a pumpkin decorating or carving contest and work. So I gotta come up with something cute to try.
