Some tips:
After you carve your pumpkin wash them out to remove bacteria and help them to keep longer.
You can also take a small amount of veggie oil and rub it on the cut edges to help seal them.
If you bought a pie pumpkin you can use it for pumpkin pie after you are done using it as a jack-o-lantern.
We make roasted pumpkins seeds from the jack-o-lantern seeds each year you can find my recipe here: Roasted Pumpkin Seeds {recipe}
And this year I made up some free pumpkin carving printables see them here: Free Pumpkin Carving Printables

I have never carved a pumpkin before and I am quite sure I would be terrible at it! Lucky for us our greengrocer does it for us and he even gives us a candle to put in it!
If I don't get to visit you again this week, I hope your family has a Happy Halloween!
Best wishes,
Natasha.
Have fun with the kids, I'm sure everyone's excited-Happy Halloween:@)
I never thought of washing them out or using vegi oil to seal the cuts. Have to remember that for next year. We always carve them on a day that Mike and I have off and make sure we have Little Mike, this year was our furthest day out, 4 days before. At least we've had cooler weather to keep them longer. I've had to move them around on the porch to keep the sun off them on Thurs. though.
